Help Masami Travel Safely for Treatment

On July 8, 2024, my mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. Since then, my parents have swiftly relocated from Arizona to Texas in order to receive treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Due to the position of the tumor in my mothers’ abdomen, the pain and discomfort only allows her to withstand a sitting position for no more than a few hours at a time. And we tried a makeshift bed inside their vehicle for the drive but it just doesn’t work. So my parents are looking into a cheap travel van with a bed where my mom can safely rest on the multiple trips back and forth from Dallas to Houston.

My mother is receiving two chemotherapy treatments a month. For every treatment, my mother and father have to stay in the Houston area for about a week before returning home. My parents will be staying about two weeks every month in Houston from now until the end of the year.

My parents are masters at saving and living extremely frugal but no matter the effort, the lodging expenses, new dietary needs, gas, and medical costs (not covered by their insurance) is beginning to take its toll after these past two months. This doesn’t include the initial cost of their moving expenses to get mom back to Texas.

We have done everything to cover almost all costs collectively as a family but we need help. As a family we have had many unanticipated costs ranging from mobility devices, flights, movers, supplies, lodging, gas, meals, and everything in between.

Any donations will be going to their lodging expenses every month for the rest of the year and possibly a new travel van.

We don’t know the outcome of this journey. But we are hopeful for a second chance.

We know times are difficult for everyone and so any dollar given is a sacrifice towards that second chance and for that we are extremely heartfelt for. We appreciate you more than words can describe.
