On February, 15th 2018, Masaki was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer which has spread to his lung, spleen, and bones. Masaki has been fighting cancer, doing everything in his power to spend more time with his wife Emi and his only daughter, Yusa.
Before Covid-19 hit, Masaki had tried to keep as fit as he could through his love of playing rugby. This ensured that he was well enough to endure numerous rounds of chemotherapy, drug trials, and radiotherapy. However the cancer continued to come back and spread. Last week Masaki received the news he feared the most, the cancer had spread more to his brain. This means he is no longer eligible for new drug trials.
Despite his extreme pain, he is not giving up. Masaki hopes to play rugby again and spend as much time with his family as he can. Since Masaki won’t be able to work and his family will have their hands full with around the clock caregiving, this fundraiser is to help cover the family’s living expenses as well as their growing medical bills.
Masaki is one of the most selfless, giving and compassionate people we know. It is now our turn to show him how much he is truly loved by all his family, friends and community. Please consider making a donation to the Arai Family who needs our love and support right now.
