Help MaryLou Recover from Severe Angioedema
Donation protected
On the evening of April 1st, 2025, our good friend MaryLou suffered an acute angioedema, an extremely rare and severe medical emergency. She went into anaphylactic shock, and her tongue and throat were so swollen that they couldn’t fit a breathing tube down her throat. Therefore, she needed to be rushed into the operating room to get an emergency tracheotomy. This was a life-saving decision by her doctors. After that, she was on a ventilator in the ICU for a few days. She is currently at Lahey Hospital She’s on a feeding tube and has a trach. Her medical team is working hard to try to get her to breathe on her own and to be able to get home without the trach. It could be two weeks or more of hospitalization. After all this, she will need to learn how to eat, speak, and swallow again. She is currently out of work without pay. After recently having a knee replacement and using her paid time off, getting paid this time was not an option from her employer. Frank had a major surgery a couple of months ago and has also been out of work. If you know MaryLou and Frank, you know they are great, hardworking people and amazing parents. Going through this is hard enough, but having to also worry whether they will be able to pay their bills is just awful. I’m starting this GoFundMe to try to alleviate a little bit of stress from my good friends. They do so much for other people, and they deserve to know that we have their back in this awful time. Please donate if you’re able to; any amount helps. We truly appreciate it. Thank you.
