My mother, Mary Young, recently spent nearly two months in the hospital. She was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease with an acute kidney injury in late July 2025, and a urinary tract infection led to her hospitalization in early August. During the first week she began dialysis and suffered a life-threatening setback that sent her to ICU for five days. She recovered enough to be transported to a critical illness recovery hospital for nearly three weeks, and after that to an inpatient rehabilitation facility for two. While in the latter she contracted another UTI, which sent her back to the ER and hospital for two more nights.
An active, hard-working, and vibrant woman before her illness, she has lost over 40 pounds and is struggling to regain her health, strength, and mobility. She continues to receive dialysis on a regular basis, along with home health care and physical and occupational therapy. She’s also since had to return to the ER three times, and was readmitted to the hospital twice.
My mother is a widow—my father, Ronald Young, passed away on September 30, 2024—and lives on a fixed income. The increasing debt from her hospital stays, tests, and treatment has become a financial burden that she is unable to bear.
Please donate and/or share this fundraiser if you can. All donations will go towards her medical bills and anything else she may need to aid in her recovery. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and we are very grateful for any assistance we receive.
