Help Mary with Medical and monthly bills
Donation protected
Hello everyone. I am fundraising for help with out of pocket, medical and monthly bills. Here’s my story:
I have a severe, physical disability that requires the need for a wheelchair for mobility. I have caregivers every day to help with activities of daily living. Without the caregivers, I am unable to function independently each day.
Medicaid has a waiver program to help pay for the caregivers– Again, which is necessary for me to do everything, including Work.
I recently underwent a life-saving surgery and have been recovering. Right before the surgery, Medicaid decided to do another review of my need for their services. They ultimately decided that since my income was just above the cut off point to receive Medicaid, they would cut me off. This meant that I no longer had a way to pay for my caregivers to assist me each day because I was not able to cover the cost of my caregivers independently. Even with my job I still needed medicated to do it.
The only notification I received that anything was different, was a letter I received in September letting me know that I would be responsible for my co-pays for doctors appointments and prescriptions. I had no idea until this month that Medicaid had cut me off.
The only way to get Medicaid services back and get my caregiver paid for again was for me to give up my job immediately. Now I’m struggling to get my SSDI and snap benefits back to cover basic needs and monthly bills.
I’m reaching out to all my family, friends, and social media family for any help can provide. Thank you.
