On May 9th, the Bernese Mountain foster dog I was taking care of aggressively and without warning attacked me.  (It is believed that he had a brain tumor).  The dog bit both hands and the left and the right arm.  The injuries were very extensive.  On the right arm and hand the bite tore into my muscle and went down to the bone.  On the left hand the bite shredded the skin off of my fingers and broke bones.  Additionally, significant contusions were found on my left calf (3" wide and 6" long) and blood and a hematoma was found on my scalp.  

Since the accident, I have had surgery to repair the bone; however, since the bone was crushed, a bone graft was needed.  I have been in a cast since May 9th and will continue to have restricted use of my left and dominant hand for the next several weeks/months.  

I have been told, it will be at least 6 months to a year before I am some where back to normal.  It is the hope that I will regain the use of my left hand and fingers with occupational therapy (OT).  At this point, I cannot straighten my fingers, which causes functional and professional problems, not to mention the constant pain.  The scar tissue on the right hand and arm needs to be broken up.  OT will help with this, but it is so very painful and it will require several OT sessions.

I am simply asking for dollars to make up the difference that my insurance is not covering.  This will cover the ER visits, multiple doctor visits, OT visits, medicine, etc.

The bills have arrived, so any monies that can come now will be helpful.
