On November 26th 2025, my sister Mary received that her eldest daughter Tamera had been struck by a vehicle in Loma Linda, California and needed emergency surgery. She has a lacerated liver and as of the evening of the 26th, the complete extent of her injuries are unknown. Drs were mostly concerned with stopping the internal bleeding and trying to repair her liver. I was told they had to leave the wound open to make sure the liver was healing. They also have to wait until the swelling goes down to see if there is anything else wrong. Tamera went out to California earlier this year with a friend. The friend left her stranded with no money and no way to get back home, homeless on the streets. Over the past few months, she went missing and stopped contacting her mother. Mary reported her as a missing person to the local authorities there. Our biggest concern was that she had either passed away or had been trafficked. Then yesterday Mary received the call from a Dr at Loma Linda Hospital about Tamera being struck by a car and her condition. At this point, we don't know what her prognosis is. Mary's main focus is to travel to California to be with her daughter, who is critically injured, homeless, and alone over 2,100 miles away. Mary herself is disabled due to congenital kidney disease. She is raising her 2 small grandchildren alone on a fixed income. She had surgery on her right hip in July. Her recovery has been extremely difficult and the adjusted alignment of her hip has caused damage to her knee. Now her Dr is saying she will also need knee surgery. On top of that, her left hip is worse than her right one. She's scheduled to have that one replaced in early 2026. My sister is not one to ask for help, but she desperately needs help! She needs funds to cover a plane ticket to Loma Linda, California as well as funds for food and lodging until Tamera is well enough to travel back to Tennessee. We don't know how long that will be because we don't know the full extent of what her injuries are, or how long her recovery will take. Unfortunately, since Tamera doesn't have a Real ID or any of her legal documentation to prove her identity, flying back home is not an option. Mary will have to drive the 31 hours back to Tennessee from California. That will require her renting a car, paying for gasoline, food, and a hotel for 4-5 nights, and funds for any incidentals that may crop up on the long journey back home. To us, being able to come up with the funds to cover these needs might as well be a mountain as tall as Mt. Everest. But we know God is greater than even the tallest mountain! No mother should have to sit beside a phone fretting herself sick because her child is in critical condition in a hospital and she can't be with her. And no daughter should be forced to endure an event like this alone, then be turned out back onto the streets. We ask that if you can help Mary bring Tamera home, that you please do. Every dollar will be most gratefully appreciated. If you can't financially help, PLEASE share this fundraiser and tell your family/friends about it. And may God bless you, either way. We already lost our Momma this year in June. Getting this news about Tamera has been extremely difficult for us all, but most especially Mary.
