Help My Family Rebuild After Typhoon Tino

Hello, my name is Mary Mae A. Villarante, and I am a J-1 teacher currently working in Nevada. I arrived here on September 17, 2025, with the hope of building a better future for my family back home in the Philippines. I have three children who are under the care of my senior citizen parents, along with my beloved grandmother.

I came here with the dream of working hard to support my children’s needs, save for their future, and one day build a house for my parents and grandmother—a place we could finally call our own. For years, we have been living in a shared ancestral home owned by my grandmother and her siblings.

However, my hometown in Cebu, Philippines, was recently devastated by Typhoon Tino, which brought severe flooding to our community. Our home was badly damaged, and almost everything we owned was swept away, our appliances, my children’ school supplies, clothes, shoes, and even our motorcycle and car.

Tragically, my father and brother were swept away by the floodwaters while trying to save our belongings. Thankfully, they were rescued and taken to the hospital, where they received medical care and are now recovering.

My family is now left with nothing and must start over from scratch. It breaks my heart to be thousands of miles away while they go through this. I am humbly asking for your help so we can rebuild our home and our lives—especially for my parents, grandmother, siblings, and children who are doing their best to stay strong amid this tragedy.
