Late this summer, our friend Mary called us in tears with some extraordinarily difficult news. We’re here to help her out in whatever way we can. I think it’s better to let her tell you herself:

“Hi. I’m Mary. In August of 2022 I was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. If you know anything about colon cancer, the odds aren’t good and I’m very scared. I’m also feeling incredibly overwhelmed, and would really appreciate as much help as I can get.

What I’m asking for is some funds to help cover my medical expenses (both treatment and palliative care); cost of living expenses, now that I’m too weak to keep working; potential hospice care if things go south; and, ultimately, a celebration of my life for my friends and family. It’s been a good life and I’m grateful to have been where I’ve been and met who I’ve met. I’m proud of who I am and everything I’ve done. I’ve made art and written songs and climbed mountains. But I want to do more. I want to live more. Anything you can contribute to help me keep going would mean the world to me – and to the people I love.”
