Help Mary Kay Recover Safely
Doação protegida
My mom, Mary Kay Jenkins is someone who has always made it a priority to help others. She inspired generations as a teacher and then volunteered countless hours helping young readers after her retirement. She is an incredible friend and community member. There are so many of us who can attest to the fact that at some point in our lives we needed something, and without a second thought Mary Kay was there to help. Right now, she could use some help from us.
A few weeks ago, Mary Kay had a fall. She broke her hip and injured soft tissue on her leg. She has extremely bad osteoporosis and is an amputee, so medical treatment of her injuries is somewhat more complicated than it is for most people. She had surgery and had been working her hardest in physical therapy to regain her strength. She has been staying at a rehab facility while she recovers, but she now has reached the maximum amount of time that she can stay.
Mary Kay will be returning home on Monday, but we are worried about her transition. She still has so much swelling in her legs that she is unable to put her prosthetic legs on. Transferring from a bed to a wheelchair, and from a chair to other places (like the restroom) is very tricky when you don't have legs. She can't risk having another fall, so she has come to the conclusion that she will need to hire a professional medical caregiver for a few weeks until she has recovered sufficiently to be safe. Caregivers are very expensive and are not covered by Medicare or her supplemental insurance. Any help that you could provide to her at this time would be so very appreciated.
Thank you so much for your help!
