On March 27, 2025, Mary Hershberger was life-flighted to ThedaCare Hospital, Neenah, WI, with life-threatening injuries, after an impaired driver crashed into the horse-drawn buggy she was operating. Despite the fact that the buggy was clearly visible and the operating hazard lights (as well as reflectors, as required by the State of Wisconsin) were visible, this avoidable accident has changed Mary and her family's life forever.

Two young family members, ages 11 and 3, were also traveling with her and were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. They have since been released and are home. Her family has reported minimal changes for Mary at this time. The funds raised will be used to meet the extensive medical bills that are incurred by this senseless tragedy.
