Hey y’all, as some of you may know, Mary is my momma and these past few months (almost year really) have been very trying on her mainly physically, but also emotionally and financially.
She has maintained a positive attitude through this tough time but that can only get you so far when the bills keep coming.
What’s going on with Mary?
Mary underwent a knee replacement in August 2022, followed by a knee revision in December 2022. She experienced vertigo (room spinning) in mid-2023, and syncopal episodes (passing out) began in October 2023, prompting a full cardiac workup and tilt table test. After leaving the OR setting in April 2024, the syncope episodes stopped, but standing still now triggers a vagal response. Since the December 2022 revision, Mary has dealt with ongoing knee pain and instability, which worsened recently, causing frequent falls due to knee buckling. She underwent another revision on August 21, 2024, and will be off work for at least 8 weeks, possibly extending to 10-12 weeks depending on her physical therapy progress and her job’s standing requirements.
As you can imagine, all of this has made maintaining a job difficult to say the least, especially in the operating room working long cases and being on your feet (knee) most of the day. As soon as one issue is fixed and believes she is ready to return to work something else comes up.
She has been blessed with a job that will allow her to work again once she is able but she has only been at that job for 3 weeks and benefits don’t kick in until 90 days. She has applied for just about every assistance program in Lexington but there are either no funds or the few check stubs she did receive from her new job make her ineligible.
What will the funds be going to?
The funds in this account are primarily to help her pay her bills through this recovery process. As stated earlier if everything goes perfect that is 2 months of not having income. 2 months of rent, groceries, and other bills.
If any of you know my mom you know she has worked hard ever since she was a little girl laying block with her daddy. Asking for help is not something that comes easily and is definitely a last resort but is necessary at this point. Any and everything that can be given will help tremendously and she and I will both be extremely grateful. If you can’t give on here feel free to message me on Facebook (CJ Boaz) and we can figure out insta cart for groceries etc.
