About Mary:

She is a single mom of her daughter Gabrielle. She had selflessly been taking care of her elderly mom at her home until she was no longer able to physically do so. She is one of the best co-workers I’ve ever had and could ever ask for. She will always help with a smile, even taking on jobs that are not in her job title. She expects nothing in return. She is one of the kindest people I have ever met. She is loyal and hard working. She has some unique physical needs that homes are not designed to address.

Reason for the Need:

Mary knows that I have rehabbed homes for years and didn’t know who else to call when her home was making her and Gabrielle sick. When I got to her home, I realized that it is in disrepair and really is not set up for her family’s unique needs. Some leaks in the roof leading to mold and some animals finding their way into the attic space, has left her and her daughter having respiratory issues. The kitchen cabinets are not functional for her given their height. Mary’s goal was to just repair the current damage, but it is not a good long-term solution.

Also, the land she has rented for the last 30 years was sold from under her and there is no guarantee that she is going to be able to stay where she is.

She’s Humble:

Mary did not want the attention that this may bring because “she has never asked anyone for anything”, she has not and would not. This is why we HAD to do this for her. She finally agreed to allow us to do this, and I really hope we can do something amazing.

The Plan:

At a minimum, we have to get her current place updated and safe. That would include mold remediation, replacing damaged materials, new insulation, drywall, paint and flooring as it has been taken down to the studs. I will provide updates and pictures as we go. But ideally, let’s help Mary get a new place and secure her Gabrielle’s futures. I am working through my contacts to find a home closer to her mom’s nursing home.I have some contractors that I work with that are willing to donate time to help customize a home that is designed for their specific needs. We appreciate anything you are able to give to help Mary. I know she will be extremely grateful. Thank you!
