My name is Mary Jimenez, I'm 31 years old and I have just been diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer (an aggressive form of breast cancer).

This journey started a couple of months ago when I felt a strange lump in my left breast. Ever since my mom was diagnosed and subsequently passed away from breast cancer almost 9 years ago, I have been super careful about self-examination and breast health. I've always known there was a chance this would happen to me someday; I just didn't expect it at this age.

I immediately went to the doctor and began this whole journey of consultations and studies that I have had to pay out of pocket.

Fortunately, the cancer is at an early stage, there are no signs of metastasis, and I have everything in my favor to achieve recovery, but I must act in time.

My treatment plan consists of 8 chemotherapy sessions, a surgery to remove the tumor and all the breast tissue affected by it, and will culminate with radiotherapy sessions (the amount will depend on the progress obtained with the previous phases of treatment). As we all know, the situation in Venezuela is not easy, and although thank God I have a job, I cannot cover all the expenses involved in the whole process.

That is why I turn to you, to your helping hand, to help me overcome this disease. I know that it is not yet my time to leave because I still have too many things to live, too many dreams to fulfill.

I'm Paul Paradiso and one of Mary's best friends since 18 years ago, and I'll be the organizer and responsible for Mary's funds to be wired to the healthcare providers in Venezuela. As many know, public healthcare in Venezuela is basically non existent, extremely limited and Mary has to deal with private healthcare which is extremely expensive in relation to the average income.

Me llamo Mary Jiménez, tengo 31 años y acabo de ser diagnosticada con cáncer de mama triple negativo.

Este viaje comenzó hace un par de meses cuando sentí un bulto extraño en mi seno izquierdo. Desde que mi mamá fue diagnosticada y posteriormente falleciera de cáncer de mama, hace casi 9 años, he sido súper cuidadosa con la autoexploración y salud de mis senos. Siempre he sabido que había una posibilidad de que esto me pasaría algún día; solo que no me lo esperaba a esta edad.

Inmediatamente fui al médico, y comenzó toda esta travesía de consultas y estudios que he tenido que costear de mi bolsillo. Afortunadamente, el cáncer está en una etapa temprana, no hay signos de metástasis y tengo todo a mi favor para lograr la recuperación, pero debo actuar a tiempo.

Mi esquema de tratamiento consiste en 8 sesiones de quimioterapia, una operación para extirpar el tumor y todo el tejido mamario afectado por el mismo, y culminaría con sesiones de radioterapia (la cantidad dependerá del avance obtenido con las fases previas del tratamiento). Como todos sabemos, la situación en Venezuela no es fácil, y aunque gracias a Dios tengo trabajo, no puedo cubrir todos los gastos que conlleva todo el proceso.

Por eso recurro a ti, a tu mano amiga, para que me ayudes a vencer esta enfermedad. Sé que aún no es mi momento de irme, porque me quedan demasiadas cosas por vivir, muchos sueños por cumplir.
