On June 2, 2025, our beloved sister Mary Esther Martinez, a retired elementary school teacher, passed away after a private, long illness. She was in and out of the hospital several times over the past year, and her sudden passing has saddened all of us who knew and loved her for her bright, fiery personality.

Mary grew up in Boyle Heights and was a proud UCLA Bruin Alumna. She received both her bachelors and masters degrees, including her teacher credentials. She dedicated her career to changing the lives of low-income and farm worker children throughout the Los Angeles and Antelope Valley communities for LAUSD.

Apart from this devastating loss, the medical bills and expenses have become overwhelming for her older husband to handle, on top of taking care of their two special needs daughters who have now been left without their mother.

Only in their mid and late 20's, her daughters were extremely close to their mom. Life will never be the same for them without her.

I am creating this GoFundMe to provide my brother-in-law with donations to take the stress off of him and his daughters during this incredibly difficult time for our family.
