Support for Mary Ellen: Let’s Carry the Burden for a Change
If you know Mary Ellen, you know a woman of pure heart. Whether you’ve seen her smiling face at the casino tables dealing or known her as a devoted friend, you know she is someone who deeply cares for others. For the last year, that devotion has been focused on her husband, as she has balanced the exhausting roles of primary caretaker and part-time worker, limiting her ability to earn money for basic bills and necessities.
Her husband passed away in December and she was just starting to try to get back working and looking forward to moving out of her current apartment at end of February.
On 1/19/2026, Mary Ellen’s world was turned upside down. A devastating fall down the stairs left her with a broken shoulder, wrist, and facial bones, as well as a brain bleed.
Mary Ellen is now the one who needs care, yet she is still worrying about a planned move from her current apartment come February. At 77, she should be focusing on a peaceful recovery, not wondering how she will pay for basic bills, a move, or a caretaker while her own body is broken.
We want to give Mary Ellen the gift of time—time to heal without stress. Our goal right now is to raise at least $6,000 to bridge the gap while she is out of work and to help her transition into a place. At this time, I am not sure if that amount is the right number but wanted to start somewhere.
Mary Ellen has spent her life doing "anything for anybody." Now, it’s our turn to do something for her. No donation is too small, and every share helps.
I want to thank EVERYONE for their time and attention!
