Mary needs your support to take her next step towards health!

As many of you know, since 2016 our  Mom (and grandma!) has been in a constant medical battle, beginning with her fight to save her knee and leg from a serious bacterial infection. She faced years of surgeries, hospital stays and emergency room visits. Even when all the odds were against her, and she was told she would never bend her leg again, she persevered. She found a way and made it through with a fully bendable and working leg!

All of the years of rehab and travel to UCLA  took a financial toll, and Mary decided to leave the hustle and bustle of the Bay Area and move to Reno to live with her sister Maggie. The plan was to relax, be near family, and have the space to recover from her harrowing medical journey.  Three months later she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. 

Mary faced this news with strength, realizing her journey towards health was not over yet. She was fortunate enough to work with a team of experts at the Mayo Clinic and received a hopeful prognosis that her cancer had not yet spread. She returned to Reno and followed the protocol given to her by the oncologist, 13 rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, in hopes of shrinking the tumor. The doctors in Reno attempted a "Whipple" surgery to remove the tumor but were unsuccessful, due to complications with delicate veins.  Then, Mary faced another round of chemo and radiation to see, yet again, if the tumor could shrink and become operable.

After visiting the experts at the Mayo Clinic a final time, she has been told that attempting the surgery, the best hope for this type of cancer, is too risky at this time.  After giving her battle with cancer her absolute all, Mary is ready to try an alternative, holistic method of healing.

Mary has faced every new challenge over these past four years with such strength and love for life. She hopes for another chance at healing. 

After much encouragement from her daughters, grandson, and dear friends and family, Mary, along with the support of her doctors, has decided her best option for a  chance at restoring her body and spirit to a place of wellness is the Arcadia Clinic in Germany.

Sofie is honored to accompany and support her Mom on her brave journey all the way to Germany. 

Above all, it has been Mary's beautiful and loving community that has gotten her through  these challenges, and it is all of you that continue to give her the strength to face what lies ahead. 

We are in awe of the outpouring of love and support Mary has received through it all. 

That is why we are leaning into that support and generosity and asking you to help us reach our Wellness fund goal of $41,000. 

This will cover the shuttle to and from the airport, room and board during the necessary quarantine, Mary’s 5 week protocol, and all the amazing healing treatments the clinic has prescribed for her.
