Help Mary Care for Her Injured Son Aaron

I’m Sam, and this is my cousin, Mary. Mary has served her community in both Providence Forge and Henrico, Virginia for the last 15 years as a Counselor in Public Mental Health Crisis Management and Rehabilitation services. As a Peer Counselor, Advocate, and Assistance Coordinator, Mary has dedicated her life to the service of others in need. Now, she is in need. Her son, Aaron (27) was in a horrific accident less than a mile from home. We aren’t sure of all the details of the accident because he is in the ICU at Chippenham Hospital fighting for his life and is unable to tell us his story. What we do know, is that he may struggle to breathe, walk or even do simple things for himself, and we really can’t be certain that he’ll ever fully recover.

Mary makes just above minimum wage in her role at Henrico Mental Health and while she has access to FMLA to protect this job while caring for her son, she doesn’t have coverage for the loss of income she takes in doing so. We are asking that this community give back to Mary in any way possible. She will need to pay and maintain transportation, communication, food and housing for herself and her son while she takes this healing journey with him. This is a long road, one that could last years, and we ask that anything you may have to offer, you offer to her. She is the kindest, gentlest soul, who cares for others over herself - always.
