Hi everyone, my name is Ashley and I am Mary's daughter, hoping that I can call on our awesome community of friends and family to help relieve some of the financial, mental, and emotional stress that goes with killing this horrid disease. My mom is the best mom and grandma to my kids I could ever ask for, and it breaks me to see her go through this.
My mom was first diagnosed with Stage 4 DLCBL Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in March '22. After 6 rounds of chemo, she went into remission and stayed in remission for 15 months. Unfortunately with this type of NHL, it is common for a relapse. In Oct 2023, it was discovered the nonhodgkins lymphoma came back, and was primarily in her bone marrow. My mom went through more rounds of a new chemotherapy, but is also in need of a bone marrow transplant (stem cell transplant). In January 2024, she started the process of getting ready for the long, extensive process (tests, surgeries, stem cell harvesting) for new stem cells.
With the help and support of hospital staff and many family/friends, my mom will start the bone marrow transplant process on February 27th, with a minimum of 3 weeks hospital stay at St Lukes in Milwaukee. She will receive more high dose chemotherapy, and ultimately receive her new "healthy" stem cells in her bone marrow to beat cancer once and for all. After her hospital stay, life will not go back to normal immediately. There is need for a caretaker, follow-up hospital visits daily, and at least 4 months recovery time until her immune system comes back.
This means my mom, (who is the ultimate busy-body), will not be able to go back to work (with the ladies she misses so much), play with her grandkids, and live independently. Any funds raised will go to help my mom financially with medical bills, daily living expenses, and the increase expenses during recovery time. I am hoping to relieve some of the stress on her with this fundraiser.
Thank you all for reading and considering donating/sharing to help my mom!!!
Ashley (and Chad)
