Request for Support: A Disabled Veteran and Her Rescued Cat
Introduction:
My name is Mary, and I am a Desert Storm Disabled Veteran.
Back Story:
Saving a Feral Cat
Recently, an emaciated feral cat appeared at my back door in search of food. I began feeding him every day, and after some time, I was able to trap him so he could be neutered and receive initial medical care.
I named him, Magic.
The veterinary bill for his treatment turned out to be much higher than I had anticipated. Please help me pay down his veterinary bill.
Providing a Safe Home:
I have decided to rescue this beautiful cat by keeping him indoors, with me, to love and protect him from dangers such as coyotes, traffic, and inclement weather.
Since I didn't have any cat supplies, I needed to purchase essentials like a litter box, litter sand, carrier, and additional food.
Furthermore, the ongoing costs of food and litter are adding up quickly.
Update as of 21 November 2025:
Magic had his booster shots on Wednesday. We had to trap him (ugh) again because he won’t let anyone touch him. The Vet was able to give him both his booster shot and an antibiotic for his mouth, through the trap. I cried the whole time.
- But now, he’s good until his annual checkup next October. Good! By then I’ll be able to put him in his carrier.
A Request for Assistance:
Being a disabled Veteran, I am on a fixed income. This means that I rely on my monthly VA Disability allowance. Unfortunately, my income barely covers the cost of living and I want to be able to provide for and take good care of Magic. Please help me cover the costs of Magic’s medical care and start-up expenses.
I am reaching out for a little help to get back on my feet while I care for this sweet feral cat who has given me a renewed sense of purpose. Any support or donation, no matter the amount, would make a difference. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Social Media:
Magic and I are documenting our progress on both Instagram and Facebook. He is still not sure about being domesticated, but he is trying his best. He is such a brave little guy.
