As her best friend, i never thought one day I will be organizing a gofundme page for Marwa. Marwa, a 24 year old NICU RN (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurse), full of energy, vivacious, loves taking care of her patients. Now she needs help.
Little she knew, that the morning of July 24, 2020, will be a turning point in her life. On her way to work, she got into a horrifying, heart breaking car accident that left her tetraplegic. Her cervical vertebra was fractured from C4-C7, but the C5 was severely damaged causing her to lose all her motor functions. Her life transformed from a person who used to passionately care for others and save their lives to a person who depends on others for activity of daily living (bathing, eating, dressing, getting in and out of bed, incontinent care, etc).
For the past 10 months, she has been in and out of hospitals, doctor’s offices, and rehab centers. She has exhausted every option available in Lebanon for her treatment. We consulted a lot of doctors, some from the US, and they said she needs to go through intense physical therapy to help her regain most of her motor function. Unfortunately, the rehab centers in lebanon are not well equipped. Her only option now is to travel outside lebanon to a well equipped spinal cord rehabilitation center which will cost thousands of dollars per month.
Please help Marwa regain confidence and positivity in life. This may be her last opportunity at regaining some mobility and independence in her life. This fundraiser will help Marwa travel and get the proper treatment. Every dollar counts, no amount is small. Your generosity is well appreciated.
Her medical file has been sent to multiple rehab centers. Below, I attached the treatment program from Romatem Hospital in Turkey. I will update the page once she receives the treatment plans from other rehab centers. Therapy is expected to last 18 -24 months.
