Martin Smith brain injury recovery fundraiser

Donation protected
On Saturday 4th November, Martin, 62 was involved in a minor traffic collision which resulted in him being assaulted by the other driver. A single punch caused a critical head injury with multiple fractures and brain bleeds. Martin was in a coma and on life support for over a week, in ICU at Royal Melbourne Hospital and is now in the Acquired Brain Injury unit in rehab, where his long and challenging road to recovery begins. At present it’s still too early to determine the extent and on-going nature of his injuries.

Our Pops is loved by so many, none more so than his family. For those fortunate enough to know Martin, he is the epitome of generosity, kindness, and humour. A big, loving, and friendly soul, he's the bloke who never says no to lending a helping hand, moving heavy furniture, fixing things for others, Now Martin is the one who needs help…

While it looks like most of the current medical costs will be covered, the path and on-going recovery for Martin is long and uncertain. His closest support and loving wife Cindee will be his day to day constant and primary carer.
So many of you have reached out with offers of support and any and every contribution no matter the size helps to get Martin back to what he gets the most gratification from - Helping others!

Our hearts are hurting. Our focus now is to ensure we give him the best possible chance for recovery.

Martin is such an important part of so many people’s lives – lets do everything we can to give him the best chance of getting back to his old loud and vibrant self.

Thank you - Paul Egan (Martin & Cindee Smith's son-in-law)
