Martta is more than a vibrant and loving 56-year-old woman who lives with passion and purpose. She is a wife, mother, and friend facing a medical crisis. For over three decades, Martta has been the heart and soul of her family, a devoted wife for 33 years, and a caring mother to her five children. She loves beyond the biological to include the logical family she has created. These strangers have become more than friends–they are her family. Her sacred circle of love extends to many.

Recently diagnosed with a genetic heart condition, she has experienced multiple cardiac events that have left her in need of critical surgeries and procedures to repair vascular damage, which is essential to her survival and future well-being. Despite being on the verge of death three times in the last eight months, her focus is on her loved ones, the incredible people she claims as her own, and the community she gives back to.

A Life of Giving

Martta's compassion knows no bounds. Her deep faith in action drives her commitment to her community. She is a mentor, teacher, and dedicated volunteer, always ready to support those in need. Her willingness to listen, be a shoulder to lean on, and provide wise guidance is a witness to her selflessness.

Reaching beyond her comfort zone, Martta works with people experiencing homelessness, and her support of organizations that aid foster children and vulnerable populations speaks volumes about her character and kindness. As a dedicated writer and editor, Martta often lends her talents to non-profit and charitable organizations, helping them craft compelling fundraising and education campaigns. She is also not afraid to get her hands dirty and sweat to achieve goals for those in need.

Martta has helped many with food and meals and aided in paying for tuition, rent, and bills. She has organized fundraisers and helped with funeral expenses. Martta has often stepped in to help without others knowing her gifts. She is also known to talk to strangers, taking a moment to love them because she believes she may be the only person that day through whom that individual experiences love.

The Challenge

The journey ahead for Martta is daunting. In addition to her medical battles, she recently faced the devastating loss of her son and mother-in-law, which has brought immense pain and hardship to her family. One could say that she suffers from a broken heart.

As she grieves this unimaginable loss, Martta is also preparing for a series of complex surgeries that will require an extended period of recovery, making it difficult for her to return to work. Though, knowing her stubborn disposition, Martta will find a way. Often, the blood flow issues cause brain fog, and her body experiences chronic fatigue. One of the hardest things for her to face is the financial stress and the possibility of her family having to live life without her. The mere thought breaks an already broken heart.

The mounting medical bills and out-of-pocket expenses from her hospital stays are adding to the overwhelming financial burden on her family. The emotional and financial strain is significant and urgent as she and her family navigate this challenging time. The slowing of work compounds the issue. Additionally, her husband recently discovered his employment will conclude at the end of September. Without the insurance his job provides or the ability to pay interim insurance, Martta and procedures will pause. Unfortunately, the heart condition has pushed this to a life-and-death situation.
