Help Martin Taylor Fight COVID-19

On July 6,  Martin tested positive for COVID-19. On July 8, Martin was admitted to WakeMed hospital in Raleigh, NC due to difficulty breathing, he was shortly admitted to ICU. On July 17, the doctors informed him that his lungs were severely impacted and he needed to go on the ventilator. So after a conversation with his loved ones, Martin was intubated and placed on the ventilator. After a few days, the doctors realized that his vital signs were unstable, the medication -Remdesivir( used to treat COVID) and blood plasma-(plasma received from people that have recovered from COVID) wasn't working. During a consult with his wife and me, the doctors took the last step available. On July 22, Martin was placed on ECMO, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (life support machine). This is the heart/lung bypass machine, the machine is doing the work of his lungs. This gives Martin's lungs a chance to heal themselves. Martin will be on the ventilator and ECMO for several weeks (can't give an exact number...it's a day by day process). As I'm sure you can imagine this is a very emotional, stressful, scary, and challenging time for his wife (Eugenia), children (Shaniya and Jayden), and extended family. 

When Martin gets off life support, he will need occupational, physical, and respiratory therapy to regain his strength and mobility. We have no idea if or when he will be able to return to work and support his family. 

Donations received will go towards medical expenses, bills, and to support his family as they manage through this very difficult time. 

Martin is a fighter, a man of faith, son, husband, father, brother, uncle, co-worker, and friend. So as he fights this virus, we ask for your prayers and support.
