We are heartbroken to be sharing this news. Martín Sett is in the fight of his life and needs our help to receive life-saving treatment in the US.
Martín has been diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer.
Martín joined our community in 2019 through the Colorado Springs School Foreign Exchange Program, representing his home country of Guatemala with pride, both in the classroom and on the court. As a member of both the Colorado Springs School Basketball team and the Guatemalan National Team, Martín inspired us with his heart, hustle, and spirit.
In February of this year, Martín underwent a craniotomy to remove a tumor. The surgery was a major step, but the fight is far from over. He now urgently needs advanced treatment in the United States to stand a chance against this devastating illness. Unfortunately, Guatemala lacks neurosurgical oncologists who can provide the level of care his condition requires.
Martín has been referred to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, where a world-class team is prepared to help. Help us relieve some of the travel, accommodations, and medical expenses; together we can make a difference.
Martin’s fight will include six weeks of proton radiation in Orlando. He will have 1 week to return to Guatemala and return for 5-6 months of chemotherapy at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL.
We are raising $50,000 to help the family cover:
• Ongoing medical treatment
• Travel to and from Guatemala and the U.S.
• Hotel/lodging during his care
• Post-surgical therapies and medications
Martín is such an amazing young man with so much to offer the world—let’s give him the chance he deserves to fight this cancer with the best care possible. Every donation, share, prayer, and words of encouragement can make a difference.
