Help Martin Live with Dignity

Dearest friends, fellow musicians, and creative artists,

I need help. I have never been one to ask, but I have no choice now as I’ve become seriously disabled by multiple surgeries for six broken vertebrae and massive hernias that are now protruding from my abdomen as if my organs are trying to leave my body. All stemming from a transfusion I was given when I was ten years old, and complications of a liver transplant I had in 1998.

I’ve spent my life savings over the last few years dealing with all the complications and medical procedures. I’m now staying in a rehab center in Nashville to try and heal the spinal fractures. My medical coverage for rehab is about to run out next week, and I will be forced to stay at a homeless shelter, where I will be vulnerable to every imaginable situation as I am unable to walk yet or defend myself.

This began when my transplant doctors placed a stent in my bile duct to improve blood flow. The stent came loose, cutting my bowels and all my stomach muscles internally. This caused the massive hernias protruding from my body now by almost six inches outside. It’s a 2 million in one condition--think of the guy in Alien with a monster coming out of his belly, and you’ll get an idea of what I look like now, only worse.

My doctor feels I won’t make it more than a year now because of the end-stage liver disease, so I’m asking for your help. I will need at least
$ 25,000 for the coming year to cover rent and other costs at an assisted living facility.

My prayer is to live out my life as gracefully as possible with as little pain as there can be . I’ve suffered more pain this year than I ever conceived was imaginable.

I’ve greatly enjoyed our wonderful experiences together and the time we spent helping each other as aspiring writers, producers, singer-songwriters, musicians, engineers, teachers and friends.

Now, I desperately need your prayers and financial help. I will keep everyone apprized of my progress as the gofundme moves forward.

love and light to you all.

Martin
