Help Martin Lav: Change a Life

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Marko and I am fundraising for Martin Lav’s medical treatment.

Martin Lav was born in the 38th week of gestation, and immediately after birth, he was hospitalized at the Institute for Mother and Child due to respiratory distress and suspected congenital heart defect. It was discovered that he had an open ductus, pulmonary hypertension, underdeveloped kidneys, generalized hypotonia, and neonatal seizures. Genetic analyses were initiated due to his distinctive facial features.

During his first year of life, Martin experienced multiple types of epileptic seizures and forms of epilepsy that were difficult to control with medication, leading to several hospitalizations. MRI scans revealed reduced white brain matter and enlarged ventricles. Martin's psychomotor development was significantly delayed.

At 11 months old, he received a diagnosis of the very progressive and dangerous Schinzel-Giedion syndrome, a condition that affects only around fifty children worldwide, with Martin being the only known case in his country.

Through the fundraiser, the foundation aims to raise funds to cover the costs of specialized therapies, medications, and medical treatments that can potentially improve Martin's condition and quality of life. They are reaching out to the community, spreading awareness about Martin's unique situation, and appealing to people's generosity and compassion to make a difference in his life.

The story of Martin Lav Nikolić is a reminder of the strength and resilience of the human spirit. I invite everyone to join their cause and make a meaningful difference in the journey of this exceptional child.

Martin Lav is a 14-month-old boy diagnosed with Schinzel-Giedion syndrome, a severe condition affecting various body systems. He faces challenges such as neurological issues, kidney problems, feeding difficulties, and impaired mobility leading to lung and bone complications.

To improve Martin's quality of life and give him a chance for treatment in Canada once the drug becomes available, he requires physical therapy, specialized examinations, stem cell therapy, a hyperbaric chamber, and related travel and accommodation expenses.

Let's come together and support Martin Lav's journey. Your help can make a significant difference in his life. Donate now and let's be humane!
