Help Martin in the most difficult battle
Donation protected
I ask anyone who can help a wonderful child in the most difficult battle - that of his life to read his story and help him if they can.
Marty was an active athlete (soccer player). Still, at the end of November 2021, he was diagnosed and underwent urgent surgery for a rare tumor (Ewing Sarcoma) of the spine, which paralyzed him from the waist down within a day. Marty spent long hours and days in the hospital, lost in the unknown while waiting for a diagnosis. His mother, who underwent surgery because of kidney cancer two weeks before he got hospitalized, was not allowed in the hospital with him for weeks due to her unstable health. Marty was cared for by family members but didn’t have his closest person and biggest supporter. Finally, the most important day came, and Marty was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma.
The tumor is life-threatening. It is a very rare type of cancerous tumor that grows either in the bones or in the tissue surrounding the bones. This cancer can move to other bones or even the lungs and brain if it metastasizes. Symptoms include bone pain, swelling, fever, and tiredness.
Martin Mihaylov is 17 years old, born in Bulgaria. There was time for chemotherapy after spinal surgery (the tumor was partially removed because it is very close to the spinal cord). That was a lot of information for a 17-year-old boy that has been physically active his whole life to process, but he is not giving up. Trying to walk has been a challenge for Marty that he still needs to face. Chemotherapy started, and he seemed better for a day or two until a few weeks later, additional tests were made. It was determined that the tumor progressed and metastases have already been registered in the bone marrow of the sciatic bone. Marty must be transferred to a specialized clinic in Turkey for further treatment, which is costly for his family.
He and his family will highly appreciate any help for Marty in his struggle for life.
