My name is Martin, and I’m reaching out for help to keep a roof over my head for myself and my dog, Copper. Copper is a 17-month-old Rottweiler-hound mix who has been my loyal companion for over a year. We’ve been through a lot together, and I can’t imagine losing him or having to live on the streets.
After working hard to get clean and save up, I moved into an apartment in St. George, Utah last November. Things were going well until my hours at work were cut in May, and I couldn’t keep up with rent. I lost my apartment and tried to find a room through Facebook Marketplace, but it’s been nearly impossible with a dog. I ended up in a motel, still searching for a place, and then lost my job a couple of weeks later. I’ve since found new work, but the pay isn’t enough to cover my expenses, and I have no family or government assistance to turn to. I’m in debt and doing everything I can to stay afloat, but I’m out of options.
Stable housing would mean everything to me and Copper. It would ease the constant stress I feel, help me keep my job, and most importantly, give Copper a safe place to live. Right now, I owe rent and am at risk of immediate homelessness. I’m asking for help to cover rent for the next couple of months so we can get back on our feet. Any support would make a real difference and help us stay together during this difficult time.
