Help Martin Complete His PhD on Urban Ecology in Douala
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
My name is Alessandra and I am supporting my friend, Martin Wato, a PhD student in sociology at the Catholic University of Central Africa (UCAC) in Yaoundé, Cameroon. His research focuses on the ecological engagement of civil society actors in Douala, a city severely affected by climate change.
Martin is currently in the final phase of his doctoral studies, which he must complete in 2025. Unfortunately, he is facing a financial shortfall of 3,500,000 FCFA (approximately 5,250 CHF) needed to cover mandatory university fees. If he is unable to gather this amount by June 30, 2025, he risks being excluded from the program, which would bring an abrupt end to years of research and dedication.
Why This PhD Matters
- To understand social responses to local climate disasters (flooding, poor sanitation, etc.)
- To highlight practices and innovations led by urban civil society
- To offer a locally grounded perspective on global climate challenges
Your Contribution Will Help:
- Pay Martin's university fees to complete his PhD
- Continue analysis and finalize his thesis manuscript
- Support a research project that benefits his community
Martin stands ready to provide any necessary documents (attestations, receipts, official letters, etc.) to ensure full transparency for this campaign.
How You Can Help
1. By making a donation, no matter how small (even 5 CHF helps)
2. By sharing this campaign in your networks
3. By sending a message of encouragement — your moral support means a lot
Thank You So Much!
Your support brings Martin closer to completing this important journey and gives life to a project committed to environmental and social good.
With gratitude,
Alessandra and Martin Wato
