Help Martin Fund a Film about the Cost of Staying Silent

Donation protected
Martin Boross is an award-winning Hungarian theater and film director, known for his bold, socially engaged works. In 2024, after more than a decade of building an international career, he made the difficult decision to leave Hungary due to the increasingly hostile political climate and the growing repression of independent, critical voices.

Now, Martin is stepping onto a new stage. He has been accepted into NYU Tisch's Graduate Film Program – one of the most prestigious filmmaking programs in the world – as an MFA candidate, with a scholarship. But to make this leap truly possible, he needs support to cover the remaining tuition and to launch his first American-Hungarian co-production.

About the Film – Lambs of God
Martin’s next short film, Lambs of God, a period drama is based on a chilling true story from 1980s socialist Hungary.

THE STORY: We follow two women: a young assistant director, and a legendary, tough female director. They’re on set, shooting a government-funded film about a pogrom against jews, when the director decides to set live sheep on fire for what she calls “artistic truth.” As chaos erupts and loyalties splinter, the young assistant must choose between complicity and her own moral awakening...

The film is about that moment when ideals get corrupted, and even decent people get pulled into something terrible.
It’s about power, obedience and the cost of staying silent.

Why This Matters
Martin is no stranger to American audiences. He has directed theater productions in New York, Baltimore, and Albuquerque. His award-winning debut feature film, Raw Material , a searing social drama about exploitation and activism gone wrong, was praised at festivals across Europe. Lambs of God will mark the beginning of his filmmaking journey in the U.S. – and you can be part of it.

Lambs of God mirrors the nature of authoritarianism: when fear, ambition, and loyalty to corrupt power drown out conscience, even ordinary people become instruments of cruelty - just as rising populism in the U.S. threatens to turn moral compromise into national character.
