Hi all,

My family and I have made this go fund me for my aunt, Martha, who is facing a long road of recovery after having brain surgery last week. The week before thanksgiving, Martha woke up with stroke-like symptoms and went to the hospital to be evaluated. From there, she was transferred to a bigger hospital that determined she had a brain tumor. She was given the chance to have surgery to remove the tumor immediately or go home to spend time with her family before the dangerous procedure - she chose the latter. While she was home, her symptoms worsened and she was brought back to the hospital. The doctors then determined that it wasn’t a brain tumor at all, but instead an infection that had tripled in size. They quickly scheduled surgery and drained the infected fluid from her brain, and we are so happy to say that everything went well!
Though we are extremely pleased that it was not a brain tumor and it was able to be removed in surgery, Martha still has a long road ahead of her. Martha is still unable to control her arm and leg on one side of her body which has led her to begin an intensive physical therapy program at the hospital. As of right now, our family is unsure how long Martha will remain in the hospital and how her mobility will change over the course of the program.
This shocking situation has caused Martha to be left with many hospital bills that will grow as she continues her road to recovery. Martha is an amazing mother, gran granny, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend to so many people. She has always done anything she can to help those around her, and it’s time for us to return the favor!!! Every cent raised will go straight to Martha and her family to help with all medical costs that have arisen during this time, as well as any and all adaptations that will have to be added to her home in order for her to be able to have as smooth of a transition from the hospital to her home as possible. Any donation, prayer, or share of this post will help Martha in so many ways! We appreciate all of the love and support we have received so far & hope that you all will continue to keep Martha in your thoughts as she continues her recovery!
