Hi, my name is Emily and I’m speaking on behalf of my mom, Martha Baker, who has been diagnosed with cauda equina syndrome (CES), a rare but serious condition affecting the nerve roots at the base of the spinal cord in the lower back. If left untreated, it can lead to paralysis or, in some cases, death. We are trying to raise money for a $7,000 deductible required by insurance so that she can get surgery and live a normal life without pain. It will take about 3-4 months for a full recovery, which will put my mom out of work. Our goal is $9,000 so that after the surgery is done, we will still be able to pay rent and any necessary medication.
Throughout these past couple of years, I’ve witnessed my mother go from always wanting to go on walks around the neighborhood, racing with me and her grandkids, swimming wherever she’d like, to using a cane to help move around easier. This is truly heartbreaking because ever since I was young, she’s always been super active, and now she’s limited by this syndrome, so she isn’t able to do the things she once loved.
I understand times are hard, and if you aren’t able to donate, then we ask that you please keep my mom, Martha Baker, in your prayers and share and repost. All donations, big or small, are greatly appreciated. ❤️
