On August 25,2020, Marta Maldonado tested positive for Cancer. The first signs were found under her arm in her lymph nodes. A week later, more tests were done, and she was told she had breast cancer. This was a total shock to both her and her family. A month later she started the grueling process of undergoing chemotherapy to help stop the cancer from spreading. After her first treatment the doctors determined it would be best if she did not work anymore. In October, after completing her first round of chemotherapy the doctors advised her the cancer spread to her liver and she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. In a matter of weeks, the cancer spread, which meant Marta's chemotherapy would be extremely aggressive moving forward. She completed her first round of chemotherapy in January 2021, but she knew she still had a long road ahead of her. She knew she was facing the high possibility of having a mastectomy soon. In February, Marta's doctors advised her that her surgery was indeed a reality. On March 4th, Marta underwent a double mastectomy and is currently recuperating at home.
Marta Maldonado is the main provider at home, and her unexpected medical issues have caused a huge burden financially. While recuperating, she is also trying to figure out how she is going to cover the costs at home as well as the large number of medical bills. Marta still has long road ahead of her so relieving her of this financial stress is the goal. Please donate to help Marta Maldonado cover her bills that continue to grow.
