We are raising money for our 11 year old staffie Marston's upcoming splenectomy.
Marston is a delight to everyone who's ever met him--he is a snug, a chatterbox, a big-booty. He's the most emotionally attuned dog Patrick has ever met, and that's saying something. He loves every person he's ever met.
Marston has heart disease, which is largely under control. Wednesday, July 8th, Marston was given medication prior to a checkup to help calm him down before having his nails trimmed (something he hates with the passion of a thousand suns). We unfortunately don't entirely know why, but after coming home, he collapsed. Thankfully, Patrick was with him and recognized the symptoms as a big deal, and Marston was rushed to the ER.
After hours of testing, we learned Marston has a mass on his spleen, and will need his spleen removed. While it's probably not malignant, we want to remove it now before it ruptures, which would be fatal.
Because of his heart disease, this will not be a simple procedure. He will need to see a cardiologist to make sure he is a good candidate for anesthesia, and the surgery itself will need to be done through a specialty vet. These things, quite obviously, are not cheap.
So that's where you all come in. We've broken down the costs below, and are just asking for enough to cover the procedures. Every little bit helps keep our Bub ticking for years to come.
$700 for the cardiologist
$300 for surgical consult
$8000 for the surgery itself
