Help Marsha Schoeffler Rebuild After Wildfire
Donation protected
Margie Joy and Jeff Fereday are organizing this fundraiser for Marsha Schoeffler whose house burned down in a wildfire a few days ago.
A wildfire was sparked along the roadside about a mile from my home on Monday, July 15, at about 4pm. It was near my house an hour later when I evacuated with a few personal belongings in my Jeep... including my fiddles. My escape route was up Cedar Ridge grade. My neighbors and I watched from the canyon's rim as the fire grew in the canyon below. The next morning, I drove 5 miles down the Cedar Ridge Grade to see if my house had survived. It had not. I drove on into Kendrick and made an insurance claim. Idaho Farm Bureau Insurance delivered the full amount of money for what was covered on my policy 2 days later. It will not be enough to cover anticipated rebuilding expenses. I'd like your help to bridge the gap.
I will clean up the site in the next few months, make some design modifications to my original house plans, and look for a builder. I'm hoping to start rebuilding by March 2025. I'd like to put the house on a full-basement foundation, instead of piers this time.
Thank you to the many people who have sent me messages expressing condolences and love and offers of support. So many have asked to help. This GoFundMe is in response to that outpouring.
Meanwhile, I am piecing together short stays at friends' houses in Kendrick and Moscow areas and taking care of business. I plan to attend Centralia Old Time Music campout from August 9-18 as I have done for years. I will see many of you then. This fall, I plan to visit friends scattered throughout the west coast, then winter in San Diego and New Mexico. By late March, I plan to return home and begin building a new house.
