Help Rebuild Maroon Town, St. James, Jamaica After Hurricane Melissa
My name is Shevenie Reid, born in Kingston and proudly raised in Maroon Town, St. James, Jamaica — a place deeply rooted in culture, resilience, and unity. Maroon Town is home to descendants of Jamaica’s first freedom fighters, a proud people who built a close-knit community in the hills of St. James. It’s a place where neighbors look out for one another and where the spirit of togetherness runs deep.
Today, that spirit is being tested. Hurricane Melissa has left Maroon Town in devastation — homes destroyed, roads impassable, and families without food, water, or shelter. Our community clinics have been wiped out, medications ruined, and access to care severely limited.
This is a call not to sit back, but to act. Every dollar raised will go directly toward food relief, medical aid, and rebuilding efforts for those most affected.
In partnership with the Reid and McGhie Families of Maroon Town, I am committed to ensuring all funds reach the people who need them most — our elders, children, and families who have lost everything.
Please help meet the immediate needs of those impacted.
Give from your heart to support the land of my upbringing, the community that raised me. My family, friends
Together, we can restore hope, rebuild lives, and stand strong for Jamaica.
