Help Marnie Fleming Dorian kick Leukemia's Ass!!

Donation protected

In July 2017 my little sister Marnie was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent surgery, radiation and hormone treatments. A little over two years later in October 2019 she was not feeling well and thought she had the flu, but after a few weeks of not being able to shake it she knew something was wrong. Her doctor ordered blood tests which showed low red and white blood cell counts as well as other blood abnormalities. A bone marrow biopsy was recommended to rule out leukemia. On November 26, 2019, Marnie was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, which is a very serious cancer of the blood. The exact cause of leukemia is unknown, but a great possibility was that it was caused by the radiation treatment she had received prior to treat her breast cancer. Now the treatment that had saved her was possibly the cause of another life threatening cancer.

Marnie was immediately hospitalized for 27 days in which she received intense chemotherapy to try and save her life. After being released from the hospital, Marnie had to travel several times per week for blood tests, bone marrow biopsies, spinal taps, CT scans, MRI, etc, as well as additional chemotherapy treatments. The initial chemo had put her into remission, but the treatment plan included additional chemotherapy sessions to hopefully keep her in remission. She was very ill after each chemo session. She relied heavily on blood transfusions after each session. Her body was not reproducing the healthy blood cells as quickly as it needed to in order for her to complete her chemo treatment plan. Her chemotherapy plan was delayed and now is unable to be completed because her bone marrow is not healthy enough to produce healthy levels of blood. Her leukemia is already an intermediate risk of returning but with the damaged bone marrow her chances are higher. Her best chance at being cured is a bone marrow transplant.

To try and find a bone marrow donor, Marnie's four siblings were each tested and miraculously two of her four siblings were exact matches. On June 25th Marnie will be admitted into the hospital for a bone marrow transplant. She will have to undergo intense chemotherapy again and then will receive the bone marrow donation from her brother. She will remain hospitalized for a month, the first 3 months will be very critical. There are serious risks and no guarantee that the graft will take but we are praying it will. There will still be a smaller chance the leukemia can return, but this is her best chance at a cure.

As you can only imagine, the medical bills are astronomical. Insurance does not cover everything. There are co pays, deductibles, medical supplies, travel costs and other items that she is responsible for.

After the bone marrow transplant she will remain under the doctors care for years with frequent visitations, lab work and additional tests. There is no end in sight for the medical bills.

ANY AMOUNT WILL BE TRULY APPRECIATED,  ALL FUNDS WILL BE GOING TOWARDS MARNIES BILLS AND TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE HOSPITAL!! THANK YOU,
