Hi everyone! My name is Chris, and I want to thank you for taking a moment to help an amazing mother, wife, and my dear friend, Marney. Let me share with you a little more.
Marney is always busy making the most out of life. She is a devoted wife to her husband Bryan, loving mother to their beautiful 3-year old daughter Malia, and a respected hard working business woman. She might have even helped you or your family with a much needed loan from the local bank. She is your friend that loves to laugh and always has your back. You might have been lucky enough to party with her on the water boating, or seen her cruising on the Harley in the summer. She loves watching football in the fall on Sundays and doing anything fun as long as she’s surrounded by her friends and family. Her goals and aspirations are huge!
Over the last month, Marney’s life has slowed down a bit. As you can expect when Marney recently gave birth to her first daughter, and the love of their life, she was not prepared to hear the news that came next. Marney in the euphoria of being a new mother, was just diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer.
Unfortunately, as advanced as our society has come, and moreover with the Moore’s paying for insurance coverage every year, there are still outrageous costs associated with the treatment of cancer which insurance doesn’t cover. Some of those costs cover treatments that make the patient’s life more bearable throughout the treatment process, and others increase the likelihood for a successful recovery.
One of those treatments is called Neulasta® (pegfilgrastim). Neulasta® is a prescription medicine used to help reduce the chance of infection due to a low white blood cell count, in people with certain types of cancer (non‑myeloid), who receive anti-cancer medicines (chemotherapy) that can cause fever and low white blood cell count. This medicine is usually given 24 hours after the patient undergoes chemotherapy to stimulate the growth of new, healthy, white blood cells (WBC). Unfortunately, the average cost associated with a single shot of Neulasta is $6,767.65, and that is for cash paying customers, because insurance doesn’t cover it. It was at this moment when Marney and Bryan were talking with doctors and understanding the financial tole this process takes on a family, that they knew they needed the communities help.
If you are blessed to know Marney, you know she is an amazingly humble friend, wife, and mother, who is always willing to help others. Or maybe you haven’t met her, but you know someone that has also gone through a difficult time in their lives, and all you want to do is help them out but didn’t quite know how. The next few months and years are going to be extremely difficult on the Moore family. Not only emotionally, but spiritually, and financially. When someone is in this position, nobody wants to ask for help, but unfortunately they usually desperately need it.
Sometimes we receive blessings throughout our lives, and other times we find ourselves in a position where we can be the blessing in someone else’s. Today you can be the positive difference in the Moore’s family. You don’t need to give a lot, but anything helps. Together we can help Marney have a better quality of life through this challenging time.
The funds we gather for Marney will go to assist her with medical treatments and bills not covered by insurance companies. As her request, any remaining balance raised will be donated to cancer research, so the study for a cure will continue. Hopefully one day nobody’s family will have to go through this turmoil. The Moore family thanks you for your time, consideration, and any assistance you are comfortable offering.
Thank you!
