Help Marlow Beat Heartworm and Heal

On the 4th of July, I found Marlow wandering alone by a lake as fireworks echoed in the distance. She had a collar on, but no tags, and was very dirty, covered in fleas and ticks. Despite having a microchip, no one came looking for her, and after a month of searching for her family, I realized Marlow was meant to be with me. She quickly became my constant companion, always by my side, and brought a sense of routine and comfort to my life during a year filled with unexpected hardships.

Marlow is a sweet, shaggy girl with a big personality packed into her small frame. She loves cuddles, baby carrots, and following me everywhere—even stepping on the back of my shoes as I walk. Despite her anxiety and whatever she’s been through, she’s shown so much love and resilience. I named her Marlow, meaning “lake remains,” because I truly believe we were meant to find each other.

Recently, Marlow suffered a terrifying seizure and was diagnosed with heartworms. The treatment is urgent and will take about a year, involving multiple vet visits, overnight monitoring, medications, and ongoing bloodwork and x-rays. I’ve already put two vet visits on a high-interest credit card, and her pet insurance is considering her condition as pre-existing due to the waiting period. With my own financial struggles, including job loss, chronic illness, and unexpected expenses, I’m reaching out for help to give Marlow the second chance she deserves. Every contribution will go directly toward her medical care and recovery, helping us both move forward together.
