A close family friend, Marlon Gil Medrano, was hit by a truck on January 1st as he was leaving work. He used to work out of town for several days at a time and would return home only two days a week. When his family realized he hadn't come home on the expected day and couldn't reach him, they began searching for him. Eventually, his workplace informed them about what had happened.
Marlon is in critical condition. He suffered severe brain damage, and doctors had to perform surgery to open his skull to allow his brain to expand. He is currently hospitalized in UC San Diego Health hospital. The situation has devastated his family, as they are unable to cross from Mexico into California. Just yesterday, in the early morning hours, immigration granted his wife a 14-day permit to enter the U.S. and visit him in the hospital.
Marlon is the only family member with legal documents in the United States. He worked tirelessly every week to support his wife and children, who are heartbroken because they cannot be with him during such a difficult time.
My grandmother is in San Diego with him and is asking for prayers for Marlon and his family. She has also asked me to look for ways to provide financial support, as Marlon's wife does not have the means to cover hotel, food, and other basic expenses during her stay. My grandparents are helping as much as they can and are also representing Marlon legally to try to extend his wife's immigration permit.
Any help, whether financial or through prayers, would be deeply appreciated, thank you.
