Hello

my name is Marlin Monroe. I am a Singer recently new back to America, after living in Berlin Germany for 17yrs. I moved to Houston hoping for job success. It’s been a very hard road here. Unfortunately I’m not able to continue here. I’ve been here 3 months jobless. I am behind on my rent 3 months. I have been asked to exit my apartment by end of June.

I just signed 2 contracts: as a Substitute Teacher for Houston Private schools, and for the 2026-2027 Houston Grand Opera coming season. But they both start in the fall.

I tried to enter homeless shelters, in an effort to try sticking it out in Houston. But because of the World Soccer games coming to Houston, all Homeless Shelters are full, as they clear the streets of the displaced for the Tourist coming. So, I was only able to try staying in one for 2 days a week. for that reason, I must return back to California.

My purpose of creating this GoFundMe is to help aid me financially travel to California. I have nowhere else to go but back to California.

I am looking to rent a vehicle and drive back with all of my things. I’m needing money for the actual vehicle, gas, and possibly a hotel for one night. The trip is 23 hours.

If you’re able to help me with financial gifts, it would be much appreciated. At this point, I am very desperate and my back is against the wall. I’m staying in good spirits. I know life, Life’s. “This too shall pass…”

I am hoping to leave Houston on June 23rd. And have a few days to drive to California.
