This is my best friend, Marlin. He’s an 8-year-old min pin–chihuahua mix who means everything to me. Right now, he’s fighting pancreatitis and has been hospitalized to receive urgent medical care.

This all started very suddenly on a Saturday night when Marlin began vomiting and shaking violently. We knew something was seriously wrong, so we rushed him to an emergency vet. He was given antibiotics, but even after that and anti-nausea shots, he didn’t improve. For the next two days, he refused to eat and would only drink water.

March 31st, while I was at work, my brother took Marlin to another vet appointment to try and get help get answers for him to eat again. While they were there, I received a phone call that completely broke my heart, it wasn’t something simple or a virus, the vet said that Marlin needed to be taken to a veterinary hospital immediately. Because he has pancreatitis. Everything has escalated so quickly, and we’re trying to process it while doing everything we can to help him.

So far his medical bills in total have been $4,000, he needs to go back in 3 weeks as he has a very high white blood cell count. 

Watching him go through this has been incredibly hard. He’s always been full of life, love, and personality, and seeing him rapidly decline and so fast this week, in pain is heartbreaking. I’m doing everything I can to help him recover.

I work full-time, nearly 40 hours a week, but even with that, I don’t have enough to cover the cost of his vet visits, tests, medications and now his hospital bills emergency treatment in time.

My family and I have been by Marlin’s side every step of the way, doing everything possible to help him, but we’ve reached the limit of what we can afford. We need a little help from the community to give him the care he urgently needs.
