Support for Marley’s recovery

Hi everyone,
This fundraiser is to help pay for emergency veterinary bills for our dog Marley. Marley recently herniated a disc in his lower back. The disc was protruding from his vertebrae and touched his spinal cord. Resulting in Marley temporarily losing the use of his hind legs.
Three days at two different emergency vets and one overnight stay later. We thankfully found an emergency veterinary hospital to care for Marley properly. That was at Angell Animal Medical Center in Jamaica Plains. The staff there is the most kind and knowledgeable group of people. They immediately eased my mind and my sons in a very scary time.
Marley is a loving, snuggly, smiley, loud snoring eight-year-old French Bulldog. Marley was a gift for my son when he was fifteen years old. Two months after his father suddenly passed away. They are best friends.
French Bulldogs are known for having health issues. IVDD being one of them. IVDD is an intervertebral disc disease. Marley has IVDD in his genetics.
There were two options for us to choose from. Conservative pain management or an MRI and surgery. The latter being extremely expensive my son and me opted to try conservative pain management first. That means very strict rest, limited movement, pain medication in a crate for 4 weeks.
Marley seems to be doing a little better each day. He is somewhat reluctant to do normal activities on his own at times. In the beginning we had to hand feed him. He’ll now eat out of his bowl by himself. He refuses to drink water out of his bowl. We use a turkey baster to give him water each day. My son swears Marley just wants to be spoiled haha and maybe that is true. That’s fine with me.
It’s a delicate road ahead for Marley’s recovery. I pray everyday he’ll be back to his normal soon.

The funds will be used for:
- veterinary bills accrued on March 27th, 29th and 30th due to a disc herniation in his lower back pushing onto his spinal cord. $2,310.00
- items purchased for Marley’s recovery and conservative pain management $500
- upcoming follow-up veterinary visit at the beginning of May. $250+
- upcoming veterinary visit to aspirate a lump on his leg to check for cancerous cells. if cells test positive. removal will be required. $70-$1000
- possible MRI and surgery will be needed if conservative pain management does not improve his condition. $16,000
Marley is a huge part of our family. We hope to have many more wonderful years with him.
My son and myself thank you so much for reading Marley’s story. Any donation given would be greatly appreciated.
