Help Marley Replace Her Stolen Oboe
Donation protected
My name is Marley Peterson, and I am trying to raise money to replace my recently stolen musical instrument.
I have played the oboe since 2009 and held onto it for the past 16 years. I originally chose the instrument because I thought it sounded like a duck and, of course, no one else in my hometown played it. My passion for the oboe grew overtime through competing in band competitions across the country and playing in Carnegie Hall (twice).
On Sunday June 22, I was robbed. I am in the process of moving and left a load of items in my locked apartment lobby while going to grab my car. A man was caught on security footage less than 5 minutes later clearly looking through my bags and walking out with my oboe, amongst other things.
A police report was filed immediately, and I have been doing everything in my power to get the instrument back - including being interviewed on the news and reviewing any & all exterior security footage with local businesses. The man whole stole my oboe is clearly seen entering the locked building with a set of keys. Unfortunately, both the building manager and the police officer assigned to my case have been on vacation and took longer than two weeks to finally get in contact with each other. By this time, all security footage of the theft had expired and been deleted. Yesterday I was basically told that there is nothing left they can do to help me.
I have been holding out hope on being reunited with my personal oboe, however it seems very unlikely at this point. Like many these days, I am not in a position right now to purchase such an expensive instrument. I am hoping this fundraiser finds some fellow musicians and music lovers, or anyone willing to help me replace this significant loss. Any help is greatly appreciated and thank you for taking the time to hear my story!
