Hi everyone,

My name is Gabriela Alfaro, Marley’s mom. I never imagined I would have to do this, but my sweet girl Marley is currently fighting for her life. After weeks of persistent high fevers, emergency vet visits, sleepless nights, and extensive testing, Marley was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia by her specialist at the Toronto Animal Cancer Centre.

Over the past days, her condition became critical, including emergency care visits after her temperature became dangerously unstable. Seeing her go through this has been absolutely heartbreaking, but she continues to fight every single day with so much strength.

Her oncology team has recommended a chemotherapy protocol using Doxorubicin and Cytarabine. According to her specialist, this protocol has shown very encouraging responses in previous patients and is based on studies and treatments also used in human medicine. While there are no guarantees, we are holding onto hope and doing everything possible to give Marley a chance.

Marley is not just a pet to me — she is family, my emotional support, and one of the most important parts of my life. The costs of emergency care, oncology appointments, chemotherapy, hospitalization, bloodwork, medications, and ongoing treatment are becoming overwhelming, and I’m asking for help to continue fighting for her.
