Help Marlayna's recovery

We are seeking support for Marlayna and her mother, Monique, who were given devastating news in August, 2023. Marlayna had brain swelling that was impacting her thinking and emotions. After intense study, the medical team at Randall Children's Hospital discovered that she was suffering from a very rare condition known as Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalopathy. Her immune system was fighting her own brain.

With expert treatment, medical professionals were able to stabilize Marlayna and she was discharged from the hospital on Friday, September 8. It has not been an easy path for Marlayna or her mother, Monique. Monique did not qualify for Oregon's Family Leave support because she had not been at her job for long enough. She needs help paying utilities and other costs while she is unable to return to work. The community support for Marlayna and her mom will be critical to let them know they are loved and cared for, and will allow Marlayna's grandma to come help out while she catches up with all she missed.
