Help Mark With His Recovery from Car Accident
Hello! We are starting this fundraiser for our cousin Leslie Zaragoza and her boyfriend Mark Badilla. They are both hard working people and have a wonderful family together.
Mark was in a terrible car accident in the early hours of August 11th. He lost control of his vehicle with some unexpected rain and fog on a windy road in the OC. His vehicle was totaled and ended up under a bridge after dropping about 50 feet is what we were told. As traumatic as that was, with covid, the current situation is only made so much more difficult and stressful.
At first, we all thought, "it's a miracle" ! He seemed just badly bruised, maybe broken or fractured hip. But the doctors had him up and walking although he continued to be in terrible pain. And the scans couldn't show much except internal bleeding and swelling.
Then they were told he needed emergency surgery 2 days later!!
The surgery found lots of damage under his internal bleeding, with injuries in his intestines, colon, etc. and infection. This after 3 hours of surgery. He currently has a feeding tube through his nose which we hope will come out soon so he may start a light diet.
He's got a 2nd surgery scheduled for Friday or Saturday for a hernia.
We're not sure when but they will try to get him up and walking after he recovers from this 2nd surgery.
We know he's got a long road and journey ahead of him and we want to maybe help with the stress and burden if we can. My cousin Leslie is now commuting from work to hospital to home with kids and we want to help her stress and health as well.
We all pitch in when and where we can
and as family we will be forever grateful if we can help them through this difficult and stressful time. As we know, they will have plenty of medical bills, he will most likely need physical therapy, and won't be able to work. With kids at home, the home bills don't stop, take out will be the norm, and anything will help!!
If you have already donated to their venmo and cash app, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!! It's appreciated and we know you all care for them. Leslie is forever grateful. All Mark thinks about is all the stress and burden he's putting on everyone, especially Leslie. Let's help him know he's not alone!! And that we got him and them too!
Please share and thank you for all the well wishes and prayers.
I will post updates as much as possible.
