Help Mark, Hazel and Kitty find a home!

Back in March 2019, a week after the national Covid-19 shutdown, I was furloughed from my company.  Initially, with the supplemental unemployment, I was doing fine.  I could cover my expenses, and at the time I thought I'd be back to work in a few weeks once the epidemic subsided.  Boy was I wrong!  When the supplemental unemployment ran out at the end of July, I couldn't pay all my bills on straight unemployment.  I began to fall behind in my rent.  When it became apparent that I wouldn't be returning to my old job in the foreseeable future, I began job hunting in earnest.  I continued to fall behind in my bills.  Finally, in mid-December my landlord decided it was time to move on.  After 24 years in the same place, I'm faced with eviction.

In January I was called back to my old job, and was finally able to catch up on my past due bills.  But, after being unemployed for 9-1/2 months, my savings is dried up, and I have no money for deposits, first & last months rent, and the other expenses that go along with moving.  Neither can I afford rent for even the smallest one-bedroom apartment in my area.  I really want to stay in my neighborhood if I can.  Work is just three blocks away, my bank is within walking distance, and most of my friends live here.  I've been an active participant in my community for over two decades.

After weighing my options, I looked into living at one of the two local RV parks.  Rent is within my budget, and other than electric, utilities & internet would be included.  Shopping for RV's was interesting.  There's a good selection locally of decent size travel trailers, in good condition, for $10,000 or less.  I investigated financing, but even the cheapest RV's at dealerships would put me over my monthly budget.  My job is only temporary at this point, though I do have some contract work possibilities if my current employment runs out, so I'm uncomfortable with trying to finance.  There are several RV's available from private owners for less than $10,000 both in town and up in Denver.

A friend of mine suggested GoFundMe, so here I am.  I'm asking you, my community, to help me, Hazel and Kitty find a stable place to live in these times of uncertainty.  A travel trailer, even if I had to move it to another RV park, would give us some consistency in a living space.  I can stay in the same part of town that I've lived in, and come to love, for over 25 years.  I can be near my friends, and stay a part of the local community.

My goal is $10,500.  This would enable me to purchase a modest RV, and cover GoFundMe fees.  I need to be out of my current space at the end of February, so time is short.  Please help me in any way you can, at what ever you can afford.  I would be eternally grateful for your gift.  I believe GoFundMe keeps a list of contributors, unless you choose to remain anonymous, so I will be able to update you on how this all works out and where I land.

Thank You!
