Help Mark Walk Again: Support His Rehab

About Organizer
My name is Felicia, I’m Mark’s girlfriend of 5 years. We have a home together, and 2 very naughty, very loving, slightly overweight kitties; Ava and Gigi. I would normally rather chew off my own leg, than ask for help, however, I need to get Mark what he needs to recover and be here for him through rehabilitation. With him out of work, I won’t be able to work more and take care of him so, vulnerably, I’m asking for help to cover his medical expenses; he needs rehab, potentially a 3rd surgery in a few months and we will need to make our home wheelchair accessible.

About Mark
Mark is an amazing person, partner, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend, to so many. He’s a sweetheart with a huge heart of gold, who would help anyone in need.

If you know Mark, you know he loves to help, he’s probably helped you with a home or car project, and his love for helping with home projects is what has put us into a very scary situation with Mark needing rehabilitation to walk again.

We would normally never ask anyone for anything; we both work very hard at our very physical jobs, and even do side jobs to bring in more money, but sadly Mark is unable to work and he will need rehab just to walk again. He has short term disability, however he has a long term recovery ahead. We do not expect anything but appreciate everything, including prayers and well wishes.

The Falling Accident
On Saturday, October 19th, Mark was helping our good friends with another tree. The tree branch securing him, broke, causing him to fall between 20-25 feet to the ground. He hit a branch halfway down that fractured some of his ribs, and it redirected him into branches and brush. Thankfully this broke his fall enough and helped him survive and avoid spinal injuries. Our friend Ben, the homeowner, was able to get emergency services to him immediately.

Mark’s Injuries, Surgeries & Recovery
Mark has 7 broken ribs, a back fracture, a small skull fracture, shoulder fracture and is now recovering from pelvic surgery because his pelvis had shattered, leaving his right leg only attached by muscles, vessels and skin, as there was no socket. The hospital was able to reset his leg, and his wonderful surgeon was able to insert plates and screws to recreate a socket for his leg. He’s going to be in a back brace healing for the next 4-6 weeks while we transition him into rehabilitation for walking. He needs expensive care and treatment and we don’t know what all to expect, but I will update this platform as we make progress.

Fortunately, his loving parents have graciously offered to fly out throughout the process and potentially stay with us to help us with Mark’s care.

Thank you for loving Mark, praying over him and helping us through this difficult time. If you can find it in your heart to donate towards his care, we greatly appreciate any and all help.
